One of the goals of our chapter is to help area schools
create an atmosphere of acceptance for their
Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgendered students.

We strive to

Raise Awareness - Some of our children exist within a world that consists of daily torture
from their peers and teachers. We hope, through our work, that we can help other people

see and understand their pain, as well.

Provide Tools -We believe there are many educational professionals who want their classrooms to be free of discrimination. Unfortunately, they may not know how to accomplish that goal. We hope to give school faculty and staff the tools and skills to create an equally
safe environment for all students.

We facilitate and encourage an open discussion about
the wording of their non-discrimination policies.
We hope that schools can be a safe place
for all of our children.

We have collected a good many resources that can be used to make classrooms,
and school environments, safe places for all students.
Some are specifically aimed at science or history courses, or libraries or elementary age classes.
Many can be adapted for use in other areas than the ones suggested.

It is our hope that having these easily available on our website,
faculty and staff will be encouraged to use them and join the effort to create safe schools
for all of our children, including the gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender ones.
